Listening to every heart

Louisiana, Unexplained

Louisiana held me strong
like N’Awleans coffee that belonged
in stronger cups than Styrofoam
which carried me, my mind, long home…

I wound throughout the streets all day
as in and out my legs to play
the come and go of eye’s delight
until I came upon this sight

I stood and stared at crystal lights
enchantment gleamed within my sight
which drew my gaze upon the vase
when then I saw the foreign place

I saw more than the casual eye
a place where lovers floated by
I saw the ripple in waters still
and somehow felt my heart fulfilled

to stand in candle’s light of gold
and feel again a love to hold
to mirror my face in water’s lee
for I am in the boat, you see…

SIL, to think of all that is lost is so overwelming.  This was so thoughtful...a beautiful piece.  Hey, and, by the way, did you know you are an angel for starting that thread in the Discussion area?!!   .....jo

Before we go much further...

please note: serenity and i contacted...if I hadn't started the announcement thread, she would have been there, just with "hey, we're ok, but check in" type message...

as for this poem...

I was lucky to have visited New Orleans in 1999...

unfortunately, serenity and I had not made that "connection" just yet....

Yet, I enjoyed, reveled, and appreciated her city so much...

having walked somewhere that serenity walked?

I know in my heart, I was blessed then...and then blessed again, by her heart, and its beat.

serenity?

twist?

Family of them?

Your strength shows.

Love,

Ladies?

This poem, revisited, now seems somewhat prophetic - because it was supposedly Italy that I was to envision....

and now....

it's more.

Thank you for reading.  I see so much more in that photo of the oil painting than I could have ever imagined.

My prayers continue to be with all of the people that were within the terrible stroke of nature's way.

Karilea, I bet that photo gave you the "chills" when it "hit" you that you really were looking at the future.  It is unfolding and time makes no mistakes... the All that is All's (for me, that's God) timing is perfect.   .....jo

Awwww Karilea, you've done it again. This is just beautiful. My heart goes out to Serenity and her family, and all of the others who were involved in this tragedy.

A huge hug for this write, Karilea.
New Orleans definitely sticks in your heart, and your memories reminded me of the pleasurable moments I spent there.

Folks, first,

I want to thank EVERYONE that responded.  Your reading is my pleasure.

Louisiana - New Orleans - IS a in all of the best sense.

Oh yes, there are folks who will go for the fact that it may have been "too free", but gads, aren't the blues and jazz and great tomatoes, excellent craw dishes and red beans and rice from that neck of OUR woods?

Our Woods, folks.  All of the states that met with disaster in the last few years, they are ALL still connected to our "land" - the one that we live on, with borrowed time.

Either we care for it, for the time we are here, or we lose all.

Initially, this was for our beloved serenity.

Overall? It IS a statement of gathering.  Thank you for letting me repost.  I've another, just waiting in the wings.

Right now, however, I'm on a few personal projects.  So if you see me popping in and out? It's because Ron's home is still a refuge to this soul.

Love, K
