The power of love born with insight
arises today before dawn’s early light
like a woman, a man, awakes to a need
before, long before, sleep is complete.

Caught in the fable of earthly mistrust
it could be perceived as layers of dust
uselessly lying about like a sloth
on the surface of life’s sad tablecloth.

Wind through the door of needing more
and love rises within as it did once before
a magician’s cure-all for long suffering
with a magic wand of sweet murmurings.

Dust settles, it does, and love is the same
no matter the sigh of please go away
but only my land littered with dust
and only my hands layered with trust.

The power of love like a vagabond gene
leaves me now forever unclean!

Brava, Helen......very on!  (The boards are very slow tonight....probably cause so many here in the U.S. are in a state of shock....I know, I have no words at the moment.)   ....jo

Yes, Jo, I certainly can understand.  The weather has been very cruel of late and I am most grateful for our climate.  Maybe the earth has just had enough.  Take care!

Thanks, Eric and LeeJ, for the read.  The brain or rather the heart expresses best before the morning light but then, of course, fades well before midnight.

Beautiful, Helen!!  I liked the rhythm and rhyme of this one...and I always enjoy your subjects, especially when it's love!
