Until Then
By Larry Chadwick
For my mom

I look into the mirror and wonder how,
That I can carry on without you now.
Then I look across the room and see her too,
And consider what it is that gets her through.

I have had my losses that were tough,
And faced my grief and all that stuff.
But when I remember that she lost her man,
I imagine the loss of nobody to hold her hand.

We have shared our aches from time to time,
And how our life is now an uphill climb.
But for being so dependent along the way,
I am impressed at how she lives each day.

I know behind her smile there is a lot of prayer,
And that the love they shared gives her strength to care.
But for now she carries on with so much heart,
Longing for the day they no longer have to be apart.

August 23, 2005

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

poignant and cherished write my friend...and this...

I know behind her smile there is a lot of prayer,
And that the love they shared gives her strength to care.
But for now she carries on with so much heart,
Longing for the day they no longer have to be apart.

I believe they're love brings them close in memory...

Larry...knowing loss, makes the bridge to someone elses loss...the bridge is called compassion.  You're lovely!

Lauren,
Thanks dear girl. Just hadn't given serious thought to mom being alone and out it came.

Beautiful write Larry, your love shines through.

By the way, did ya find the tonic of youth???? Judging by your pic, maybe you drank a bit TOO much?????

Ruth,
Thanks for such kind and generous words.

Tracey!
How wonderful to see you and thank you. Where have you been? Yes I did find the fountain of youth and as you suspected I over indulged.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
