It's been said ... (a little ditty)

It’s been said and then denied
by the perceived almighty wise
that men and women side by side
the keeper’s of love’s spirit life.

Denial now a fearful trait
akin to fire afraid of flames
sucks up wisdom from brain waves
and spews out truth beyond these days.

It’s been said and then denied
a man should take himself a bride
for therein should true love reside
until we reach the other side.

And so the “should” is tried and hung
upon a ladder rung by rung.
Of wood it is to rot, be flung
into a heap of old cow dung.

Oh, woe betide the passersby
assailed by smells of love’s demise
who greet new love with more denial
until we reach the other side.

And then say the almighty wise
denial’s flames will hit the fire
but what of love’s true spirit life
if genders stand in different lines?

And further still the wise describe
a lonely flame without a fire
and ‘tis a tale no one should write
into this one time book of life!!
