In the pit I wallowed
yes I mud slung
with the best of them.
The fight, feverish, ever so
determined was I to disprove
the ugliness of my
reflection.

After years and years
of discontent, I gave up the fight,
gave up the search.
No one stopped me.
No one cared at all;
my greatest adversary
was and had always been
me.

But it was within
this silent surrender
that redemption found me,
head bowed and ashamed,
unworthy to face my Forgiver.

Teardrops liquefied resistance
into repentance, He lifted my gaze
and drew me close enough
to see the reflection
in His eyes-

I saw Holy in the likeness
therein.

jellybeans,
I enjoy the truth in your writing.  You expose inner thoughts so willingly.  There is beauty...

So often, we can be our own worst enemy. If God and others can forgive us, so must we ourselves.

You share yourself so openly and never fail to touch a chord deep with me.

Seen in that Mirror, no reflection is ugly....though many are sad.

Maybe I couldn't have shown you holy... but you've always epitomized beauty to me. *S*

This is lovely and touching, my friend.

Reflections ... so enigmatic. So full of lies, weighted down with truth, and above all...so US.

We light the dawn - kill the night, blaze and go out...

So US.

...and then, we go on.

Much, much enjoyed this piece, my friend.

Sunshine, yep, I did…..my life has meaning now

Gentle spirit good, am glad to lift your spirit like you lift so many here

miscellanea thank you, my muse lives deep inside, she seems to know nothing else except my inner thoughts *s*

zensser “on the other side of surrender is the strength”  yes, you are right, I find myself stronger and more able with each step

EA thank you, it is good to be able to share my weaknesses and touch others

Rat, yes you are right, though it is beyond comprehension, the way He loves us

suthern, ah lady, you have made me feel beautiful and worth trying more times than I can count, thank you….for your comments, and for you

jwesley, enjoyed your thoughts, its always good to write something that makes people, either think or feel, to be able to do both, I guess, is what we strive for
