Bruddah Iz
sings somewhere
over the rainbow
unlike Dorothy
because
not in Oz
Iz
knows what we know
that
on the other side of the rainbow
there is

no land in lullabies
because Blue Skies
that is
Irving's Blue Skies
was the most popular song
in 1929 just before
the Sky fell

Willie sings it
in the minor key because
he has detected what Siddhartha
unearthed long ago
that

the irony of hope
is that it is
the saddest

I stir my wok
peppers and onions
and mushrooms
and wait for the meal
because
action is the enemy of thought
it is analgesic
the stirring and the sizzling

a kind of
contentment
without hope

of flying

LR

It's good to see you, even though the down in this poem makes me wish you up!  In fact, you made me hungry...and anything that smells and sounds that good, has the hope of tasting good...right?  I hope so...(note play on words)  Anyway....maybe a hug?

If one is content, perhaps there is no need for hope! Everything is as it should be already.

Keep sizzling your stirring writes!

Good to read you again, Dear Rebel With A Cause!

Interesting - and ironic - that Blue Skies was the top song right before the stock market crash. Very clever to work that in, Reb. That, along with action being the enemy of thought, strike me nicely. Well done...

"blue skies, nuthin but blue skies..."
Oh, so good to read you again. I've wondered when you might re-appear.
Now, you'll have me humming that tune all night long. An enjoyable read, Reb.
And I absolutely loved reading Hesse. Humming, as a banyan tree comes into view....

Some irony in this that made me stop and think....

The stirfry you're making in this sounds good and is making my tummy grumble.

Good write....
