I like to say
Too old, too old
I like to think
I know it all
I like to admit
When I'm wrong
It's hard, sometimes, but still true
I like to pretend
I don't love you.

I try to get over it.
Too old, too old.
I like to say that, remember?
I know it's not right,
it won't work out.
I like to think I know everything, right?
I want to believe
that it all means something.
But I always admit when I'm wrong,
even when I'm not.

Denial a game.
I don't need you.
But I only say that because
I don't think you need me.
I don't think you care.
I like to pretend...
that I'm okay with this
and I don't love you.

I really liked the way you repeated too old, too old. Many things can be too old, can't they? And then again, old things can seem like new! Enjoyed reading your poetry. By the way, welcome to #35!

Every age has its pretends. I think children have the best pretends merely because theirs are so innocent.
