“It came in his day
That he saw the soul of her to be the same
As any who had lived their life in piety
though she had sold her body
to the merchants for a few pieces of silver
and entertained for those others she owed
who selected yet others for her to amuse while
she was being used

Her own eyes looked first to him
With suspicion born of men
Who had stroked first her hair
Then pried there way between the thighs
She now kept covered as if chaste

But beheld in his voice something more”

Lord!
I raise my voce in anger
That this the way of misuse you allow
And I am left here to see the way spirits are broken
To gain use of some flesh that let base man
Gain his pleasure

I have seen her
When for the debts she owed
She was forced to offer that which women
Gift to the man they love
Destroying the meaning of that union
You…
You Lord designed from the rib of Adam

How can I turn my eyes to you
And praise the wisdom of your ways
Speak of the love you have for us

How lord….
                          How?

My soul is torn asunder the lessons
That from your mouth to pen
Made law
                     Then denied of protection
For the lambs you swore to tend

There is no faith in me
And the wisdom of proverbs escape me
That you turn this cold eye to those
Who have done thee no harm
Nor have the staff to fend off the beast
  That might ravage once innocence

Your son Lord
            Saw In the lady Magdalene
The soul I see
          You ignore

I cast my words as if stone to smite you
Though my arm far weaker than yours
And turn this day my back

No more…lord…..
                                   No more

“When she was told that they had taken him
her flesh ached with the agony she knew in store
and fell hard to her knees asking he be spared
but her voice fell to deaf ears
and she wondered of his touch
and what it meant to her soul”

“No More, she cried.”

“no more “

Wow-- this is one tough poem! Easy on the eye, clear and succinct like all of yours....and with an extra helping of backbone. Excellent work!

I wonder too sometimes~~

love the depth of thought...and you...where have you been keeping yourself.
Always a pleasure to get into a bit of your mind

This has touched me deep - echoing considerations and wonderings - if only we knew and understood -

You've written this so very well - it is most powerful -

I read and wish I could do more...

If I could, I would cook your thoughts up in a spoon and take you intravaneously.

Ron,

this far surpasses anything I have read in a very long time and I wrote once of the Pieta, and this reminded me of that but rarely does anyone write of the other Mary.

It also reminded me of my own failures and weaknesses and I thank you for reminding me of both.  Sometimes we cannot even see ourselves, sometimes it takes another one's sight  And there has been many a darkened eve when I wondered exactly who I was lamenting to.

This has reached me far beyond what you will ever realize.

After reading this, I-for some reason- find it difficult to put my own words down, knowing I can never compete.
This write, Sir, if definately one of, if not the best, that I have seen on these pages yet.

In the wooden chair
Beside my window
I wear a face born in the falling rain
