in the shadows

...the shadow tongues of memory
reach inside the imagery
drifting through awareness
in the evening's early mist.

...it is only in my memory,
that touch,
the touch of heat shared
between two souls,
the shock,
of joining in an instant’s unexpected fire,
of being kissed...

...most of my days rolled slowly
from dawn’s birth
into each evening’s sweet oblivion
without counting,
weeks
then months
then years slipped by.

...love
forgotten on these trails
necessitated by survival,
life,
or what passed for life,
had to be invented
to give color to a shadow world
wherein love’s meaning found refuge,
refusing
to be denied.

...often
I do imagine taste and scent,
time spent,
its passing discounted,
for where love builds
time has no real capital
in the heart’s affairs,
nor memories
of the soul’s hopes abandoned
safely locked inside.

Memory can be so loud, yet so soft.

"love’s meaning found refuge,
refusing
to be denied."

it is not easy to deny love....it sticks and is forever.

makes it so difficult.
