Heard you passed through not long ago,
but the sun had already gone down on me.
Been busy trying to make ends meet
and none too pleased
that I missed a few rounds.

Heck, I've heard it all before
even, if'n it sounded right nice
when ya whispered in my ear.
So I kinda figure I didn't miss much
'cept for you, I always do.

Caught wind that one of the old timers
kept firing shots your way
trying to get a rise out of you and your pony.
But you always knew how to hold your own,
tossing em back without a hitch,
and a mighty fine gentleman at that.

Guess that's why I was so sweet on you
back when I was looking to turn your head,
like some fool cowgirl who lost at love too many times.
But you were different, ya'll had some grit
and a way of letting the sweat run off,  without showing it.

Never could figure how you stayed so cool
when the heat was near blistering.
Razzed my berries watching your back
and how you wore that tough leather of yours.
Mind your wits, darlin'
I ain't talking about the pistol in your pocket,
it was the whole package I wanted to tie up.

Thought my petticoats were pretty fancy stuff, I did.
The way I sauntered in and twirled around.
Gawd, it's enough to fire up my cheeks at the thought,
since you were none too impressed with my spin.

Seems kind of silly, the things we remember
since I'm more partial to blue jeans and beer.
Reckon that's just like a cowgirl,
so shoot me!

Me too!  Loved the fun in this...although I saw the serious in it...which is deserving of a hug.

and grin and head to the juke box

hoping to play your song

Lady-who-proves-that-blue-can-sparkle, I can't imagine your spin failing to impress....at any level, floor to ceiling. That fella must have had leather in some very wrong places!

This is great!  It was an unexpected laugh with poignant memories of mountains and cowgirls and high open plains and horses and trucks and bars with triangles to ring in the crew.

Thanks for stirring up those memories.
