Putting on a sunbonnet of finest organza,
intent upon wandering about in bright sunshine
wondering where those long tailed  bluebirds pine
and the cheerful robins who once hopped the incline
for the freshest worms of a spring morning,
or why it is the sky’s true blue colors you once knew
have lately taken on a darkened dingy hue?
But you admit,
you’ve already realized your sighs and cries
are but an acknowledgement of altered reality...
the world as you once saw it is changing,
and most of the changes are unsettling, at best.
Still, on any given day or night
the sight of a baby sparrow or tiny flitting goldfinch
can bring a big smile to your face,
opening up the coffers of your heart in ways
only those who cherish all life equally will understand
that it isn’t just the human species that belongs on Earth
it isn’t just the human species that puts a smile on the Creator
as she turns the pages of each year moving toward
to who knows what destiny or planned finale.
So put the bonnets on while you are able,
watch the tiniest sparrows and finches,
cherish the joyful appreciation of life
as if you were a bluebird or robin.
For none of us may be here tomorrow.

A wonderful way to live in the Now, dear Kacy!

You too touch the theme of Oneness and there it feels "Home".

Love, Margherita

It is so true that we should try to smell
the roses now...and appreciate all we have.
For someday it or us, or both will cease to
be...and there is so much beauty awaiting
our eyes, our touch and smell.

Thanx Kacy...

As a bluebird or a robin, may you forever sing and fly! Seize each and every day!

I really enjoyed the fruits of your pen, Kacy.

they know don't they
as they strut in their bonnets
easter thru autumn
then somehow make do
when rendered without any frills upon it
until once more another season grows
from ice sipped straws of winters tonic

Nice piece, Kacy, great thoughts put together here.  And you're right "Inked" has a fine response.  Ken
