The tall oak
and dogwood
pink blossomed
lean together sharing a sigh.

It is so good to feel:
the rain,
cold wind,
even the edge of night,
with something
vaguely remembered as joy.

Sometimes,
somewhere just above,
something warm.

Perhaps,
reaching up,
if we try very hard:

hard as oak,
hard as dogwood
pink blossomed,

a chance
that this
sighing consciousness

will last

forever.
