Sifting through the stinking strewn garbage,
she comes across a memory so sweet
It nearly cancels the myriad of offensive odors
released by years of frustration and anger.

One solitary moment of resistance holds firmly,
tenaciously clings to her blistered brain.
An "I love you" surfaces briefly amidst all the pain.

But whose voice is attached?
She can no longer calculate the impact,
nor appreciate the intent held within his voice.
And so she lets go of all
the garbage.
