in the shadows

Coo-coo cried the morning dove,
awareness struggling to rise,
I pushed away the broken dreams,
and lies,
and forced my tired eyes to clear
knowing
there was no guiding light for me,
no true star upon which I could steer.

My hands still shaking
from dark deeds of night,
there was no refuge
for the likes of me in sight,
no warm hearth
waiting on a distant shore,
no mystic savior would appear.

Purple owls
had hurled me through the door,
my morning rose without a plan
where I had not needed one before;
I knew once again I had to understand
just simply what it was I was living for.

Pale shadows called to me;
in my heart I still knew that I was free
to go in search of shelter anywhere,
and I knew just as well once more
both Heaven and Hell would always wait for me,
and so without another word to say
coo-coo cried the morning dove;
I wrapped my soul in paper left from yesterday,
knowing since I had no choice to play
all I could do was turn and walk away.

icebox...forgive me replying with an old poem of mine

Moon Shadows

where churning is cloistered
prisms spirals down
into silver eyes
through her streets
a glow with sand tinted steep slide
her cold fire reaps
the quiet crackle of somnolence

icebox...Totally enjoyed the realness of your words. Loved the line " both Heaven and Hell would always wait for me"
