 Open Letter Dear God, Your gifts are greater than any written word. On this day, this very day of Ascension I pray. I pray for a stop to farce, inhumanity, and uncaring. I pray so hard for so many things, I am befuddled… for it seems Hell has visited Earth. Children starve; others sue for their obesity. Parental arguing splits the lives of their children, who were conceived in love. Commercial expenditures exceed the number of people who sanctify and observe holy days, even as we question, where is the morality? There is so much more… Dear God, I pray for the spiritual leaders to correctly guide again; for the political leaders to find Your source; for the time when religion and politics can live side by side and not be fractured by discourse. I pray for a strong nuclear family, where mothers and fathers are free to discipline accordingly; take a stand in their children’s lives because they want to; and acknowledge their mistakes to You. I would not have You paint us a picture of purity without knowing our worthiness. My thoughts lend to the inner knowledge that You forgive us for so much. If we are in Your image…does this tell me that You, too, sought a Higher Power? For aren’t we all under the microscope of scrutiny? If not by You, then those who would claim Your powers? If we are to find justice, then we must look to a Just and Able source; for somewhere there streamed a river, diverging into Right and Wrong. And sometimes I believe you hope we all know how to float. Dear God, I pray. Open my mind to other alternatives, guide my hands, make me Your vessel of hope, lead me to visions that would correct one wrong. Then multiply me. Amen. ~*~ © Karilea Rilling Easter March 27, 2005 |

Sissie So much pondering in this....and the weight of your prayers is heavy with the deepest of thought. This: "If we are in Your image…does this tell me that You, too, sought a Higher Power?" very interesting and made me think....and this: "Open my mind to other alternatives, guide my hands, make me Your vessel of hope, lead me to visions that would correct one wrong. Then multiply me." is so beautifully you!   |

It's difficult to comprehend a God so powerful that He doesn't burn out. I, for one, am grateful that He doesn't take vacations, tho' at times it seems like He did. Dear Lord I pray, That weary travellers such as I will be led to poetry such as this, that transcends the meaning of poetry, that pays honor to the glory of thy name, that places a footprint before us that will help cradle our faltering steps toward the good of humanity, poetry that touches our senses and our hearts, that turns our eyes from the realm of politics to a higher realm of thought and our hearts to a deeper level of love.
