On An Ordinary Day

Was it really today?
The clouds don’t even pause.
Looking strangely commonplace,
they send back one gray whisper:

Yes, yes, it really was.

And she was truly so lovely then?
I ask the wanton blue between them.
As it fades into mere sky,
the sibilant silence says:

Yes, yes, just as you saw her.

Our hearts did sing,
I ask the grass for reassurance,
in the same way I recall?
The slender blades all nod:

Oh yes, we hear them yet.

Why must she be gone?
I ask a random dandelion,
why do I walk alone
on this day of all our days?

No answer comes then

as my seed fluff trickles off
along an ordinary breeze
between the normal grass
and these commonplace clouds,
under a merely blue sky.

There is so much forlorn ache in this... no day is ordinary when you feel like only half a person... when all that's important is missing. Very powerful write!

Jamie

There is a landscape within your heart that holds that day still and always....I think she will know that and how special this day is to you.

There are days when a couple's magic
is so great

that no amount of nature's beauty
could compare...

as magical as nature can be.

Bravo, sir, on a poem well felt.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul
