In the morning before my waking,
With or without dreams I don’t remember,
Just a tired old tattered body reclining
Till the sound of window glass breaking,
As an objecting object rushed to enter
From the street my home was lining,
A stone, a brick, or bit of garbage,
Something hurled in drunken rage.

What happenchance did it take
When flung from a passing car
To find my window to break
Sneaking between the bars.

I guess I need no windows
To live within my shadows,

Brick them closed
Thoughts arose
As I swept
