+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+
I stand upon this sacred ground,
With ancient spirits swirling ‘round.
Haunting drums from eons past,
~ Primal sounds of forever last.

My pulse is rising with the beat,
Upon the earth my moving feet,
Dance to din of Indian dirge,
~ Answering call of my soul's urge.

Manitou sighed in His sadness,
At white man’s rage and his madness.
His noble people lost lands and died,
~ Salt tears of rain, Great Spirit cried.

Tis sad - the loss of the "people" - but tis the evolution of mankind, one people being replaced or absorbed by another - from the beginning - won't it be nice, should the day ever come, when we remember we are one people - one race - that of humankind - and should love and care for each other as true brother and sister?  Oh, I long for that day-

Hugs you -  Susan

Echoing what Susan said,  though somewhat
less optimistic or hopeful...Yes,  it
would be nice, wouldn't it.

Where are your feathers, Chieftess Angel??

Excellent write.  Took me back a few years to my first time I went to Pow Wow in Cherokee NC.  An amazing time and a very wonderful write to bring to mind some wonderful memories.

Mag-nificent One ~

My feathers are in my duster and in my boa ~ though I do believe they may have adorned my crown in a past life ~ or two!

Nancy ~

A "E" from an "E" is indeed "E".

Mark ~

I find it gratifying that my poem was able to stir up some pleasant memories for you. There has been many a time that your poetry has done that for me as well!

Love & Spirit Light,
Linda
