Sighing

        sounding out

those breathless moments of life

an exodus of emotion

understood,

no matter the language base,
no matter the faith,

as a hand goes limp,
as touch fades away

heartbeat stilled

hands chilled,

in the final night

of Ramadan.

Some will cry, some will cheer.
And for many
             fear of the unknown
                   is again
breathing down the neck

yet a newborn generation

will go to sleep and dream

of what comes after
the exodus

on the final night.

Wow, nice! I like this! Yep, it's a twist, and a good one.

Glad you liked, Ed.  Thanks for the challenge.
I needed to write this POV tonight.

It is always worth stopping to think when you write something, Kacy.  Well done.  Ken

Thanks, Ken. It seemed ironic somehow, that Arafat died the last day of Ramadan, and on the day we in the US honor veterans.
Whether loved or hated, Yasser definitely impacted millions while alive, and we will have to wait and see what people do in his memory.

Yes Kacy,  we will have to sit and wait and
see what comes of his passing.  Sadly,  I
fear that death will only bring more of the
same to many innocents.

Now is the time for everyone on both sides to take a deep breath, and look for ways to heal. But sadly, I already see signs that too many are holding onto the same old mindset, the circle of non-stop revenge.
Still, I keep my fingers crossed with hope.
