It's not the same as it used to be,
Spot doesn't run here anymore
and the man doesn't jump over the moon...

Mother Goose has packed it up
and moved in with the old lady in the shoe,
the three blind mice can see
how there are no plums to pull out
when you stick in your thumb...
and the cat no longer needs the spoon...

Little Miss Muffit sits on a broken bench
while watching Humpty Dumpty be swept away
by Prince Charming riding off into the sunset..

Snow White now begs for candy goodies
from the tooth fairy
and Cinderella's step mom
shines her shoes for her now....

Strange how Nursery rhymes can change with time
and all that was good has somehow turned sad...

This is really interesting gal...a job well done...

Mary had a little lamb
But now the lamb is dead,
Now Mary takes the lamb to school
Between two slabs of bread.

It is sad that innocence is gone; however, I loved this. I burst out laughing!

Very creative writing ... hugs, Marti

Tis true, they do change, but of course we do carry the sketch pad and pencil to the paths we journey, so as to draw up a scene in which can be happy in.  Maybe no Pumpkin carriages but we do have 4 wheel trucks sand dunes on the beach.  Now that to me is fairy tale material.  Enjoyed the read and the reality in it.

Growing up and older can be harsh in ways..
and to think that was all we lived for when
we were young...until a certain age when we
started saying we were younger, and were not!

You did a wonderful job of writing this and
putting the characters in place.  Bravo!

very interesting concept...quite sad, but there is a certain lightness to it too...it's sad how we outgrow nursery rhymes and face the realities of life...a good write!

Donna,

you know , no kidding, I was thinking of this while reading to my son and seems when I was little, nothing was half as scary as they make it today, even though it kinda was
*grin* but yes, I adore this write seeing as most children will not even know what a nursery rhyme IS.
