What can I give back to you
with quiet eyes and broken breath
I'm afraid to know what you've seen

No gift can repay the warrior

I cry and ache and mourn for your loss
I live comfortably because of you

A warrior crown is no cure for a broken heart though it is the least that you deserve

You fight with tears, I know you do
Even as they're locked within your heart
For you are not steel, but flesh

I bow before you with thanks, because you gave, because you give

My joyful songs are to your glory, my life of peace, and thankfulness
let me never forget to be thankful

Your babies cry, I know they do
And they're so proud and long to hold you again, to clambor upon your knee, to sit with you in quiet spaces and enjoy

I can't repay you; but I can only honor you and love those you so dearly love
*But I can do this: feed the hungry and shelter the wanderer. I can encourage the weak and enable the poor. I can fight for peace and justice here - and this I dedicate to you. For you did not fight only to have your people broken and sick; rather free to enjoy the peace for which you so dearly paid.

He is so fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose - Jim Elliot

Absolutely and positively beautiful, you do them such honor...

The greatest beauty on earth, is
found in the hearts of those

A truly unique approach...and yes, you don't want to know...but you know.

"You fight with tears, I know you do
Even as they're locked within your heart
For you are not steel, but flesh "

These are my favorite lines of the poem.  So true to life.

Thank you,
quatro
