Rivers run through lines
Landscapes of innuendo
Mountain and tree eyes
Know a weathered journal’s keep
Yet he will admit, “Not I.”

Wow!  So glad I was able to drop in this morning...I am finding superb poetry. The norm for poetry at this site was good when I joined nearly two years ago, but it's improved markedly since then.

This man, who's muse drifts
currents bending and winding
poetry flowing
through corners of thought and mind
Yet, he still does say, "Not I."

I'm in...       Thanks Karilea for posting this. Ron, thank you for all of your great poetry!

Tree eyes glistened
from staring too long into the sun
as it bounced hard off the skin of lady blue
just above the long still hole
where old man Johnson's son drowned
in the flood of 79

I wondered if they were blind
because they couldn't move
without the whisper of one to the others
"I am here"
            "I am here"

but my own eyes hurt
and I was deaf this cold day
to the way summer murmered still among the stones and roots lining her bed
so I pulled a sheet of white
from my old journal and began to write:

" It is never in my mind to write
or to be the place these words come from
they it seems write me and of other places
other times"

"Not I" the line continued
nor anyone can claim the beauty of her here"

The currents slow along this long hole
and I drifted
letting my own glisten of tear dry

then folded the torn page
  and let it float

Knowing the words
and the Lady blue owned me
and it would forever be

"Not I"

Mercer felt mercy
Blue bends sound his twain to call
Paddles trail wet lines
There is more to floating days
Yet he will whisper, "Not I."

Seems to me, Ron....that it is "I"....
and you are, you do,  and....you will!

Thank you Sun,  for pointing it out so
eloquently.

"Not I," he murmurs
Liquid slapping dancing light
"Yes, you," she whispers
"In writing of what is, then,
marking time where we will go."

This day full of warmth
along her curved banks of blue
mesmerized in song
winds of change speak soft to him
yet, he does believe, "Not I."

The river runs deep
we know her as Lady Blue
Captain pulls us close
Ron you tug at our heart-strings
yet you still believe, "Not I".

Slyly she smiles
eyes twinkle in golden sun
lips curve in laughter
she knows of his denial
even yet, he thinks, "Not I."

"Hush," Lady Blue sighs,
"Feel the roll and sway of me
Music not all hear ~
I bring shadows, mists and dreams,"
Now he wonders, "if not I..."

And others I can't print here
Still he grins, "Not I".

Not only is the initial post a worthy tribute but the responses are a treat as well.  You even got the moth in on it and Ron turning a bit red.  That in itself gives lend to reasons why.

I confess, I do not know how to write a choka but I do know that . . .

he whispers
silent
loudspeak
deafening my ears
with the slightest of
snowflake downy
sirens
screaming to fill
what is missing inside

*smile*

Ron,

gentle river muse
flowing poetry downstream
thoughtful offerings
swiftly carried on currents
to wed with blue of sea.

...thank you for the gentle journey
and yes... "you"

River streams dancing
Leaves falling in light applause
"Not I", says he, still.
"But you even pen me blue
capturing moments, this, true."

Orchestrated Sound
Audience of trees in sway
Standing ovation
"Brava" blows upon the wind
And Lady Blue says, "Yes, You."

Lines full of allusions are sometimes difficult to capture, but oh so captivating to the mind! Wandering eyes are usually eager to read between the lines.
Well done!
