The Pause That Refreshes
By Larry Chadwick

If time should pass me by,
As I stop to think of you,
I would let it go,
It would be the thing to do.

So I will pause along the way,
To reflect on you again,
And recall the times we had,
As a way my heart can mend.

When the burdens of my life,
Are more than I can bear,
I will choose to remember,
All the times that we have shared.

When my priorities are not straight,
I will take some time to reflect,
About the difference in my life,
When you were there to interject.

Now that you are gone,
And I walk this path alone,
I reminisce more often,
Of the times that we have known.

I am better for the training,
That you contributed to my mind,
But miss our times together more,
With each treasure that I find.

When I read the title of your poem, several things came to mind ~ and not all of them are appropriate for me to post in Open!

On a more serious note, reflecting on warm memories do have their own way of refreshing us.

You write with such heart and soul. Your poems are authentic ~ so real.

Loving hugs to you, Dear Larry,

With all the cherishing that you do, I have a feeling that you are not as alone as you sometimes feel.

Sy,
You know it's nice to get a little of that wisdom direct from the source. I'm making new memories everyday. You won't believe the mob of family coming for a visit now that we have our own home! We're very excited. And thank you kind man.

Toe,
Indeed  you do! It's nice to know you're there and understand. Bless you dear man.

Lauren,
Thanks sweetie. It's nice to be reminded.

Martie,
Aw, thank you. Not even close to alone. But alone in the sense of my dad isn't with me. Bless you dear friend.

Yup Alyssa, I do. You are a doll. Thank you for being so faithful.

James,
Thank you sir.

littlewing,
Well dear lady...time and sorrow. Oh, did I mention it's all I know, just like this.

Toe,
You've got mail too! But you probably already got it.
