i know it's heavy with second guesses.
keep your hair down
the light hits it just right as you ignore the beauty.
keep your hands clean
and maybe today they'll set you free.
keep your secret
the world's not ready for you anyway.
keep your journals
full of words too broken to be spoken, too lovely to be heard.
keep your arms out
you deserve so much more than an empty lie.
keep your wits about you
you're a genius at making me laugh.
keep your heart safe
it's worth much more than these words can say.

and when you run you're more full of life
than i've ever seen any one of us be,
and when you run there's brilliance in your step.
and when you fall the whole world knows
because a piece of us goes missing.
but you, i think, run harder then.
each new lap tells where you've been.
you want to smile in passing and suck it in
but you just can't run from sarabrynn.

in the end it's not just you with your memories and your scars, fall on me if you ever forget how beautiful you are.
