Drips November clouds,
Tears of sullen mood.
Trees, blown shook
Of raiment, bare
Ice-flecked rain drops,
Frigid air;
Cold and wet, wet and cold;
Songs that sing of winter near.
*
A change of rule in Hazel found,
Yellow smears on hollow sides
Vernal bloom and brightness there,
Ribbon-flowers, in-wind-try
To match the hues of gold in bees;
The last to buzz before snow flies.
*
The heavens send their fan-rays down
From steel-cold skies to light the path,
Where dry leaves scratch a rustle sound
Along the trail where pig-nuts lie;
Marbeling lanes, and rougher ground.
*
Up high in fog, the wild wings pass,
South by north-wind sent at last...
Whistle beats of feathers drum.
As through the frigid mist they bound,
To turn and run from winters blast;
November movements,sights and sound.

Years ago, I once looked at a farm for sale in Potter...
Now, the older I grow, the less and less I'm fond of cold....long seasons up there my friend.

Wonderful tribute to mother nature...look, she's smiling

You laid the scape so beautifully...
my spine even enjoyed the shivers...

Well done, Sir.  Thank you!

Excellent write Ford!
Loved the sights and sounds of this keeper.

Now while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again.

I really enjoy your nature writes, and even through the chill of winter's presence, feel you garden with warm caring hands.

Dear Friends:

I have read all of your replies to this poem, and cherish each equally....Each contain the love of poetry and life, which to me are inseperable....

Words like "bravo", "enjoyed", "look (mother nature) she is smiling","Well done, sir","very nice","Excellent write", "Hugs to you","I really enjoy your nature writes"
"Two words-love it" and "Wondermous" all gather at the top of my brain like the cream  in old time milk...

When I read your comments, my eyes taste the sweetness of that rich substance...

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.

Considering that you are inspiration...
it is easy to lay down the accolades...

As a star pupil might capture the season in a net of silver floss...you bring the essence of new winter, near and dear.

Liked this...

"where pig-nuts lie"...

Haven't seen them in quite a while.  A treat.
