And yes she has a pretty face
A smile to call the morning down
Of all her horror there's no trace
She wears this mask just like a clown

As yes her eyes hold depths of blue
To hide corruption lying there
Her cheeks and lips of rosy hue
Beguile the mind, and heart ensnare

And yes her make up is in place
Her hair is groomed her voice is calm
Look in her eyes; a sparkling grace
Be hypnotised, feel no alarm

And yes she's smiling just for you
Her touch is gentle, soothing, soft
She's supple, yielding and so true
She'll hold your dreams, take them aloft

The pretty face, the smiling eyes
Each one complete to draw you in
Beneath the surface of disguise
A web is formed and you can't win

Beneath the guise of pretty face
Corruption looms to tear you down
And some small lies; a rotten trace
Will hold your mind like thistledown

He web is great; her time the race
With beauty held fast in a jar
But all of her wields blackest space
So look beyond, she is no star

And yes she has a pretty face
A smile to call the morning down
But there's no beauty and no grace
Within her soul, hurt wears the crown

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Oh, lady... we must know some of the same people! *S* But... warnings do no good... those ensnared are too entranced to care... and we can only watch until the shells of them are tossed aside... and then try to put the pieces back together.

Excellent write, my friend... you weave a web with your words... one I gladly enter. *S*

And yes she is a poet of grace ...
weaving rhymes of cadenced lace.

Keth-girlie..this was a true treat to read aloud...and its sooooo good to read your rhymes again...you always did write with meter and harmony. Loved the vocab and word play in this as well as the assonance.

Rock and roll poetry my friend.

Poetry is emotion put into measure.
The emotion comes by nature ...
but the measure is acquired by art.

Well now, look whose ink I found tonight.  You do the flow and rhyme (I am addicted to rhyme I believe) thing so very well.  Very much enjoyed and a delight to see your name here.

It is frightening - this - the lure of evil beneathe the blush of beauty - you wrote it so very well --

Corrupted beauty. You tell it so well. Puts me in mind of Helen of Troy. Maggie

I had no idea you knew my ex-wife, Keth!

The poem does indeed flow smoothly and makes an excellent point relating to books and their covers. I for example, thought mushy was shy!

Deer,
you got it wrong. I'm the shy one although that's mostly because I have permanent foot and mouth diseas, (yanno everytime I open my mouth I put my foot in it). However this was inspired by Mushy.

Brings one to think of Charlotte's Web....
For this wench would surely ensnare and
suck the life from pulsing veins.  Well
done Keth.  Good write.

WOW! what a superb write, Kethry!
Love the imagery, could see and feel the frown, the false smile, the crowned clown face looking down.

Beloved one, infamy, infamy, you’ve all got it in for me, I’m sorry beloved I couldn’t, truly couldn’t help it. You know this is utterly, utterly perfect, the rhyme the rhythm cannot be surpassed by anyone.

she says I inspired it because I am pretty not because I’m like the spider in the heart of the web, no honestly, I am both shy and quiet and emmmm sweet always

Truly exquisite writing darling heart, I love it and I’m so glad being TPO is good for something.

Love you always
and forever
Mushy
