You told me one night
in the hush of darkness
and shroud of deceit
that you didn’t know what love is.

The shadows hid my tears

You told me, as I held myself
that you weren’t happy
but hoping the next day would be better
than the last.

The wind carried away the sound of my pain

You smiled my way feeling relief of honesty,
not conscience of my wounds.
Yet you still withheld
and I still hoped.

The innocence of my heart shattered
in the whispered words of another night.

So now that I am stronger
you say you love me,
you need me and can’t bare to lose me.

But the breeze carried the empty of your words away
and barely brushed my face.

"cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind"
~Sarah McLachlan~

Excellent Susan!!  Much enjoyed this keeper.
Hugs~

Now while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again.
