The candle burns at both ends.
Flame grows near,
to scorch of hand.

I reach for you to help me,
an apparition
of what I thought you were,
of what I wanted you to be.

I have lost track of whom
put match to wick.
Just knowing I want it to stop

burning.

I choose to let go
and walk away.
Letting the flame
slowly burn out.
Leaving me with blisters
of my own invite,

and scars to remember.

"cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind"
~Sarah McLachlan~

ya knew the moth would understand this one...
honest, emotional, powerful piece ...

me thinks its time to order pizza Susan-girlie.
( ask Sen about all the pizza boyeeeeeeee fun we can have) LOL

Poetry is emotion put into measure.
The emotion comes by nature ...
but the measure is acquired by art.

I sure do understand this. Hugs to you. Sometimes those utensils are just too hot.

Well said - I liked the analogy and the delivery -

Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
