What is this disquiet
Which threatens strength
With desire for one
To touch something long thought dead
And denied to myself
Though God himself had tried to stir
The echoes of it in me?

Do you hear me now Lord?
I babble like the fool you always said I was
And find myself in ache
      For what you promised me
But that I can not embrace

Faith, you said

While I followed my own path
In rejection of such animated hypocrisy
As I witnessed where faith was concerned

I would speak not of such
But you have always enjoyed a good laugh
And I do not mind
Being laughed at now and again
For I know that so much of us all
Must be humorous to you

Is Job around?
I could use a lesson in patience today
And perhaps a dribble of wisdom too
As might fall from the lips of Solomon
As he spit words my way
In his disgust at having to humor me

And perhaps
                         You

I promised long ago
   Not to curse you again
And in return the truce we had was working well

But I am tempted now
For I have found inside the parts of me
I thought dead
                         Still breathe

And I am left breathless with a touch
   Am weak to please…

Tell me Lord…
                        Is this love?
Or have I simply found the truth
   that we are all alone

and sometimes even time
                   erodes stone

and then you fade from humorous
to seriously asking
that which certainly occurs...

sometimes even time
                   erodes stone

and sands shift under weight
of footsteps that would know
once more that place...

Now, aren't you glad that this needn't be cross-stitched onto a "sampler"?

erosion, being worn away one particle at a time...and scattered...

even the most unyielding eventually give way to even the gentlest of persuasion....given enough time

layer upon layer, here, and everytime i read you

Oh, you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
My body aches to breathe your breath
Your words keep me alive

Breathe on and 'reign' on...

Listen to God's whispers in the falling rain ~ and you will know.
