Hiding like a shadow on a stormy day
Manipulating your mind to make it feel a certain way
Turning your heart from one you may love
All because of this world that makes us think
We aren't welcome for who we are
Not Unless we are a certain way
So, maybe it is right to want to color in the lines
But it will still look beautiful if you stray a little outside
Its an honest structure, it doesn't lie, if you are not part of it
You don't belong
Sad to see the few that go above and beyond
Walk on the sidewalks alone and aside
People lie about everything, just to remain standing on those sidewalks
With a hand to hold
Put our whole lives on the line
Just to feel a feeling that may not be sincere
We do it all by force, No choice takes us here
Our vision is so manipulated by what we are supposed to be
No one can see clearly
To find their true source of beauty
If the fog would ever lift, the stereo types to float away
Everyone would look at themselves and see
Beauty is being able to say
I am me, no one elses idea of what I should be

Indeed it is!
And let no one take that away form you
though they may try for a lifetime.

Enjoyed the read.

Interesting.   I agree with quite a bit of your words.

I really like what you are saying - in our family we dance outside boxes and make up our own tunes - I love that my daughter (she's 9) thinks its wonderful to be different - or weird as we call it - uniquely herself - very much like her mama - always have been one fry shy of a happy meal-

lovely you are -

Susan

Love this. Especially liked the closing thought. Very well done.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!
