Vague Hungers

She knew she had to diet
But all good things
Had been taken away

She nibbled on memories
Too often as naughty
Reminders of better times

She yearned for sparse hands
To silk away satin linings
Before her coffin grew round her

She grew full on thin hope
Even in darkest shadows
Always following some light.

It was when the
Vague hungers pained most
As empty settled in

That was the moment
She reached for you
And never looked back.

Edgy? Yes...but still standing...

I like this - it speaks volumes -

Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

It speaks volumes of lonesome,  of wishes,
of tender thoughts and what might be...
But would it?  Could it be the fields of
clover green across the roadside fence?

Well done Deca...but that of itself is not
unusual...

by my illicit exquisite dream
but I can't really wake up
