Have Another

Waking in the warmth of thoughts,
morning carrying over the night
with solitude on standby.

One step away from the dance
recovering my composure
manipulation not getting
the best of me.

Protected by your words
against others,
the knifing only momentary
when reminding, it too shall pass
and the pain will cease
come each morning's rise.

It only takes one drink,
and only one suggestion
and thrown are the stones
that crack my mirror
breaking my security.

Those sharp edges scrape,
and the wordweight bruises
but my skin is tougher now
and bruises will eventually fade.

I grieve the loss of understanding,
the sharing  and caring of years.
Someday you will be unmasked
and the old you will come through
but it won't be me who is here
waiting.

M

words can surely hurt as such...and you've described the pain they can cause someone to the "T"

Tremendous write and visuals....thank you

A sad write, but your strength shows through the pain.
Beautifully written!

This is so heartwrenchingly sad, you keep on saving and working toward the day when you won't be there. Excellent write.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
