Don’t kid yourself, It is no use
We were not meant to be
You, your pinstriped soul
took me, cast me far away.

Love is too harsh
It comes and goes, returns,
dropping the ash of me
over chilled earth.

You thought I would be her,
your hot potato.
But now, you aren’t too sure.

Drop me off on the corner,
where papers blow the chill wind
and remember me tomorrow
when you wake and I
am not there.

Okay - I feel Dixie - may be way off - but then, never was good at guessing games -

Yup I feel Dixie too

and I am haunted
by my illicit exquisite dream
but I can't really wake up
so I just drift in between

Gotta be my Dixie-dear!

(and love the line about the pin-striped soul)

*shaking my head*

I know a few like that.

Grinning here. Loved the poem. (yer hat is cool too. )

Of course, after reading your replies, you must surely realize, that even if it were not Dixie you were trying to emulate, you'd have to now say it was! lol

Good job! Good poem!

Hugs to both of you!
