I stood in a wealth of sand
foot steps indented all around

The sound of seagulls and the sea
and I    a child to the foam of this home

Crunch the one foot held in
taking the markings from my belief
that I could draw myself that way
within the clean just made
entered into the pool    so real it seems
then jerks the girlhood from my dreams

Run    I say   and I run
climbing the ice plant cliffs
the rodent hole my lift
away      away from the current’s climb
I’m just a child I whine
in sympathy for the color photograph
gone      oh gone
lacking     I can’t look back

Yet I hear the call    and I fall up   myself to save
to land again    just like before     within my grave

it was my summer then

Oh, my!  Martie, hang on to those memories.  I remember summer, too....this poem makes me sad but it is so well written.  Be well and I hope 2005 is a good year for you.   .......jo

I wanted you to know that read this, but will think it out a bit, and be back as I found this a very sad moment.  I too wish 2005 is your year Martie, I truly, truly do.

away away from the current’s climb

This was a dramatic moment, so powerfully and masterfully rendered, dear Martie.
There are voices rising from the past and can’t be forgotten …. even though it was your summer then …

Love and hugs.

There are dreams we want to come true, and there are dreams......like this. I know where this comes from, and I know the depth of sympathy and caring in the heart that brought it to be...and the darker side of the angst within it.

Like Mysteria, I hope this will be your year. Climb, and let whatever can lift you, lift...and stay off of those slippery-inside iceplants....

This left me with such an ache..
I wanted to reach out my hand to help lift you up..
I do hope 2005 is good to you dear Martie.
Heart-hugs

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Martie - what a moving write.  Sad but beautiful and there's always another summer sometime somewhere.  A new year always brings in change but may it be a pleasant and peaceful transition for you.

When I was a child I had a reoccuring dream about a big wave....it swallowed everthing...was coming towards my family and me and oh so many people playing unaware on the beach.  I tried to tell them to run, but no one heard me, so I was running alone.  The wave took everyone behind me, as I looked back one more time, from the cliff.

The tsunami has brought back this memory of the nightmare I had as a child.  I tried to write it as I remember.  Thank you so much for reading and for your understanding replies.  I think there is a bigger hurt behind the poem, from my childhood and from now...the wave, just a symbol of it.

Martie - you say so very much so very well in your writing - I hope all your future waves are small ones that do no harm - and the deep hurt is healed by the love energy of so many that know you - Paul

Martie...this was beautifully written, but it breaks my heart to know that you are going through this kind pain and sorrow.  :'(  Hoping that it will all be minimal this year...and that the wave is just that...a wave.  Some thing to kiss the shore and break away.

Hugs,

Becka

What a beutiful song..
This could be the refrain or chorus..

"The sound of seagulls and the sea
and I    a child to the foam of this home"

I would love to hear it sung by Judy Collins or Loreena McKennitt..

So often events in the present can trigger memories of the past.

Such a tragic event has brought back your recurring dream of the past.

A sad, yet beautifully written piece of poetry.

Hugs with love,
Linda
