No cut trees for me.
If I could buy a tree
it would have to be a live one
that would be planted some day
as habitat, shelter for birds and bees.

I do not begrudge you your cut trees,
so please don’t get upset with me,
for most are grown on commercial tree farms,
not the old natural forest method.
But I’ve always believed a live potted tree
to be the ideal reality for life on earth.

And if the cut tree you have
is recycled for mulching?
Then Mother Nature may yet smile
on this tradition of cutting down millions of trees
each year for the sake of a few days of good cheer.

No, I am not a total bah humbugger,
but would love to see the holiday season
spread more equitably throughout the entire year,
to share with all God’s creatures.
So if you enjoy your cut trees, please,
do so in harmony with nature, and recycle.

thanking you in advance
for recycling

No cut trees here midnitesun. Heck no. I have a fake tree and always will. I love nature. Love the forest, love camping, can't wait for summer so I can get the heck out of the house and return to the woods. LOL! No! I love the smell of pine in the morning. The rustle of the deer as they wander to the lake. Yes...I love trees. Nice poem dear friend.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

Speak you out, good Kacy friend,
For your message has no end.
Howe'er we handle Mother Nature
She'll return to touch our future.

Well said, m'friend.  Ken

Kacy
I had a Christmas tree lot for years, sold cut ones and balled ones, but always enjoyed selling the live ones best..it a great idea..
I used to do reforesting of strip mines lands , and have been a nurseryman my entire working life..so I lean towards growth instead of death...although as you say, the trees are almost all farm raised now..

an ejoyable read for me..

thanks Ken! love that poetic reply
Ford, thank you. Hope all those replants thrived, because that's the best way to heal the raped lands from strip mining and other injuries to the soils and water table.

Whatever way you choose to holiday, I hope you will all recycle everything you 'can' and give things to a charity thrift store instead of throwing into the landfills, if they are still useable.
