Route of the Pale Horse

As though he can hear mort’s call,
that horn’s desolate note,
the horse raises his head,
braces for a strike.

Time for another ride,
the route: rote.

He prefers night’s illusion,
with an aura of nimbus about him:
all-glowing coat
and foggy hot breath,

to daylight’s blending
of white with light.
He’d rather feel the trembling
in his riders’ thighs,
their pupils fully dilated
prior to becoming fixed;

to have them know fear’s sharpened blade
everlasting, to catch the chlOros
flash of ancient teeth --

beneath a gibbous moon

on the well-worn path

to the dark glade.

Ah, Corrine - I like the mood of this -

You always leave me shaking my head in awe of you, mystical! Fantabulous!

Sigh.

wonderful, wonderful imagery, so dark and haunting.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
