Congratulations Amanda Cosette, college graduate! (a semester early)
.
.
.
.
.
.
I named the little bird Cosette

If birds can find a foothold in the air
where lumb’ring beasts see only infinite
(but still will blink their dreams and prayers’ there)
then I must ask who owns more lucid sight?

If birds, so timid, fragile, fear not heights
while brutish boors bang bones upon the ground,
then I must ask whose view’s in better light,
the one who’s free in flight or shadow bound?

If birds can grace us with their perfect sounds
tho’ hounded by the hunters’ horn and snare,
then I must ask by which we are astound
the clamorous and common or the rare?

Fly! Fly Bird for you there is no limit!
The light is yours! Soar there! Let no one dim it!

This Child

(with a nod to Ms. Plath)
.

My eyes, dry, wrest of pesky nothings,
muse the brilliant lodestar’s path
so clear from here.

Your names we let you keep
(and would have forever)
‘doordut’ was donut, ‘magitch,’ Magic

I (yes, yes……We) filled you
with tint and hue, music
and much laughter

This patched canopy, in salvo’s of applause
bounds in gusto and heralds
your aurora!

Thanks, what a nice thing to say. Here's dad and the grad a few months later when I shaved, left waiting tables and got a "real" job and 'daddied' 3 more in the next 45 months.

Yes that was one of poor Sylvia's suicide notes. She only saw her own depressed 'ceiling' reflect from her children's eyes/futures and thought them better off without her.

This was the answer from one who stuck it out on this plain and is damn glad.

(pictures of me are rare, children in the hundreds for I was always the photographer)

Smiling at the write, the pictures, and understanding the pride and love. Thank you so much for sharing these! It is sad that Ms Plath did not stick around to get past her own negative self-assessment.

Congratulations to Miss Amanda Cosette!

Congratulations to your Cosette, and may she always fly free to find her dreams realized.  What a lovely picture of her - and what a fabulous accomplishment.
Talent seems to run in the family, and brains (wow a year early - good for her!)

Nice poems dedicated to her that I am sure she will always treasure as well as this graduation day.

RSWELLS: Not only do you write wonderful words amd thoughts, you send us searching to  other sites to learn. I have learned so much more by where you send us.I wondered how you knew of Slyvia Plath. I guess I though of her as a women's poet. But your  self revealing and sharing have opened my mind.  best marty

I usually don't click on titles that I can't understand,
but I'm glad I was curious about this one
