Floating gently on a cloud....

Forget-me-not

I was a flower in your garden once,
You taught me how to bloom.
One by one my petals opened,
Colours of the rainbow were yours
For the picking.

Pick me you did,
And threw me as far from you
As you possibly could.
In my flight my petals rained down
As my heart overflowed.

Every tear a memory,
A moment of eternity littering
The ground about your feet.
They lay there scattered, lost,
As lost as I am away from you.

As you walk in the half-light
Of dusk some balmy summer day,
Will you see the petals lain on the ground?
Their colours won’t fade as long
As your heart still sees the hue.

We smiled and laughed in glee,
We talked by day, by night.
Dancing to the same melody,
For a time we were in harmony.
But now tis gone, tis lost.

Is it banished forever?
Will we never look on blue skies together
On sunny days as we walk the park?
Let the music still play in your heart,
As it ever plays in mine.

Let my petals lie in the corner of your heart that time forgot.
Let them dance in your memory, and forget-me-not.
