60-600-6000 years, teachers of their times
Pass on their knowledge, from cave to marble hall
They ascend, old words come, speaking rhetoric's;
Killing their oponents, proves their omnipotence
Say the moderns, according to their oracles.

Old lyrics stick in the minds of populations,
Who urge elected officials to scratch
Electric matches, igniteing hell-bent missiles.

They say they're told to do so by a book,
That setting fire to the fuse atones their dead;
Acting like the first men in existence
That threw at others, war-heads made of stone.

Tunes that perpetrate old myths, I hear,
Notes of dark-age creeds, in secret, hummed,
Tintinnabulations leak, from an oval office;
And though the tone of chimes has changed,
The same old bells keep up their toll...

        *"Onward Christian Soldiers"

Voicing cries of war in catchy phrases;

            (that will make)

*"Hell's foundations quiver, at the shout of praise"...

Calling;

*"brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise."

False pride-appointeds, weep to see their soldiers,
Marching off to war with (they believe)
Words that their Messiah sent as guides.

*"Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song."

Though,
The tree of life is body burnt, one twig lives;
And those who still have faith in human kind
Form a circle holding hands, to dance around
Listening to the words that rise
From where their God resides;
Lilting up from deep within their hearts.

Though I'm impure, I dance to sacred drums;
To seek pure blessings in their steady drones.

The head drummers voice comes from afar,
A place where first day music played.
Resounds for all now living here-
And those to come, in my chest its rhythm beats
Allowing me the chance to chose good deeds;
That I arrange as  message of my song.

The heart is strong, like a blacksmiths maul,
Can form a plowshare from a sword;
Someday I hope those pounding blows
Will hammer out the dreadful sight,
Of Christian soldiers marching off to war.

*excerpts "Onward, Christian Soldiers"
Sabine Baring-Gould, 1834-1924

(big angel hugs) Oh Ford, I share very much your sentiments and tears here for our young men and women stuck down there in Iraq, and of our nation, as the Good Book is continuing to be misinterpreted and seized as a weapon or excuse rather than by its name, a library of divine revelations. (sad sigh) This week I made an entry to my on-line journal here on The Lounge where I speak and provide examples of how I believe Jesus came to preach non-violent peace, etc. that I think you may enjoy, God Bless You, I pray the echo of the human heart, the power of love can overcome all and the world will know peace s Jimi Hendrix believed, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ford, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

A few years ago
I wrote an acrostic based on
Amazing Grace...

I only say this, because I appreciate
people who read, ponder, and apply
variations to age old teachings/
applications/acknowledgements.

Thank you for this, Sir...
