Inspiration becomes a dirty word?
Someone shouted, kicking my knees
And it hurt….
I forgot to unfold the deck chair

Evening dress and black ties
Loot our cemeteries
The one’s uptown, with turnstiles
And Logo Mastheads

Shift workers, board of directors
Smelling of grease
Stripping summer meadows
Like a rapist
Whose only intent is to influence!

One for “Recycle”
One for Garbage
Discarding sharp edges
Hiding questions
With 15 foot sharks
Frenzy on Wall Street
Pattern of splinters
Tearing apart 401k
Was it a premonition?
Toasting tardiness
& contrary ways
Inefficiencies clogs the drain
In H.R.
Crusted hands of corporate fishermen
Incompetent strangers passing through
With open-cold arms
Collecting flesh and bone
Permissive Cut throats
The trickle effect
Of life’s work in org charts
Helpdesk requests

A wolf will chew its leg off
To free itself when caught
Teleconferencing in Helicopters
Classified FAQ’s
ATM’s bloodlust of power
Hammering nails
Around checking accounts
Education and retirement benefits
Becomes Global Security
On the back page
Of Travel and Leisure

Unethical becomes rigors of idealists
Clearing their throats
With space allocation forms
& a bottle of Jack
Who hates smokers?
And honest employees

But, hey, it’s a turn Key Nation
Isn’t it?

A gritty piece of work here, Lee...
A mixture of the lack of factory smoke and the smell of old money...

There is blood on the hands of those who put mass fotunes above the heads of their citizens in common, but this is the way of flowing capital...

That river always contains pollution, sometimes the effluent of the affluent is invisable..but this poem exposes that poison, and brings it out into the light..

A turning of the key excites the crank..
and there seems to be no way to jam the gears.

A deep and thought-filled poem.

"A poet, any real poet, is simply an alchemist who transmutes his cynicism regarding human beings into an optimism regarding the moon, the stars, the heavens, and the flowers, to say nothing of Spring, love, and dogs."

Good title, and a intense poem with attitude.
I enjoyed this very much.
