Sitting high up on a balcony
overlooking Biscayne Bay,
some cosmic winds
shook time’s curtains
and the shimmer made me sway;
for a moment I was floating,
looking down on fire’s light
where a dancing shaman struggled
to chase away the night;
it almost looked like Stonehenge,
the stars were bright and clear,
the chanted prayer had urgency
with roots entwined in fear;
I turned to the horizon
where the stars dimmed into blue
as time slipped back to present,
and my heart reached out for you.
Will we cross in future lifetimes?
I know we’ve touched in lives before;
knowing’s small consolation
as I wait outside the door.

All we have to do is want, to be sure it will not happen.....or so it seems to me at this moment.

Refrains from 'Somewhere in Time' played in my mind as I read this..
yes, we do meet again in each lifetime.
Or so I believe..
Much enjoyed the read and the thoughts sir.

To be able to move back and forth in time must be a blessing, and yes, fragile.

Very deep write...
Also, just wondering because of your reference to Biscayne Bay, do you live in Florida?

Thank you all for your time and comments.

James_A_Fraser ~ I too hold a version of this Taoist belief, but I also believe that we should define our goals and desires if for no other reason than the understanding it brings.  What I found (for me) was that I had to stop demanding that life follow the paths I choose for it.

Enchantress ~ *laugh* The trick always is to recognize companions (and adversaries) through the veils and costume changes of time.

MGROVES ~ Thank you for reading and taking time to comment.

Martie ~ *smile* My dear friend, sometimes it is a blessing, sometimes a curse.

inkedgoddess ~ I think it is easy to believe in the echoes of time.

serenity blaze ~ *grin* Is this a planned event for which I could schedule a plane ride???

*Alli4000* ~ *smile* No, I do not live in Florida.  I was staying at a hotel on the Miami River when the archaeological excavation at land’s end where the river empties into the Bay was being argued in the courts.  From the balcony of my room I could look down on the dig.  This is a recounting of what I experienced one very early restless morning.

wranx ~ Perhaps all the dancers through time have built up a small credit for us to use.  It worries me that we are now withdrawing more than we replace.

I don't, actually. I believe we can create most of our own outcomes, and the biggest balancing factor is, all those other folks trying to create theirs. There's fate, karma if you will, but its role is much overrated. On the other hand, this poem brought to mind a part of my life in which things certainly seem to go that way....
