The trees are up
lights and sparkles too
another Grinch strolls by
in protest
in observance of copy cat crews
decked out steel fences
chopped down saplings gathered
it's tradition
the Grinch detests tradition

One needs to go ahead with motions
after the plump turkey roast
where rotted bones dress can bottoms
stars hooked to light tree tops
wood gatherer piles fuel to burn
fireplace needs light next turn
trees are up at local mall
Santa would be so happy
the pocket book feels crappy

The Grinch loathes tradition
observes copy cat work crews
steeped in polished black shoes
not even a descent paycheck is gathered
but the green and red show must go on
just after the orange and black one
with a plump roasted turkey
consumed in the middle
a distant memory...

Tinsel stars grace fir tree tops,
Evergreens are up again
status quo retained
lights and sparkles glued
it's a traditional cue...
perhaps a psychotic one too...
the Grinch loathed every moment

It would be nice if we could return to
the true meaning of the gift of the Magi...

wouldn't it, Martin?

Thank you for you.

I risked my life every holiday season for years crawling around on the roof of our big old house to string lights. While I wouldn't do it again I have to admit it was rewarding to see families include our (then) home on the crawling drive tours of the displays. Of course I justified it by saying it was "for the kids," the same justification my spouse used to bury us financially. Enjoyed

seems too much trouble

especially when one hates shopping
hate isn't the right word...maybe depise? loathe?

of course, my middle name is Grinch around this time of year...I still do share in others work though, if they want to go all out, I'll come look and eat and share time

Passing,

Your mention of detest and loathe had me restructure or shall we say better structure the text...merci

Maureen

did I say crappy instead of happy..oh how miserly of me

Karilea
