we were tree
with fragile skin
back to back
with one breath
and heart

I worshiped your roots
your limbs
the places you made water
from the rain
you gave your charms to

you smiled at my flexing
bending and tying myself
into knots of cold showers
clinging to rock hard
with my best grip

to impress your eyes
with how I could change
the wind into little breezes
and guide it there
to your damp leaves

you drew pictures
on the willing earth
and wrote poems
in the sand under your shadows
you asked if the sun bothered me

always looking at you that way

the trees crossed
into your black sky
awake in the morning
pregnant with apples

There is beauty in your word-branches~

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
