You're not him; your eyes were never blue enough, they didn't paint seashorses to prance on my pillow, your voice never spoke sonnets, it merely squeaked out the soliloquoy of a surrogate, i was never that taken with you; he'd promenade with the grace of gazelles, as you stumbled through hoops and mugged in a mirror of monkeys, your arms didn't carry white roses, nor did your demeanor exude with the elegance of his towering stature, though you had all the moves of an acrobat, you didn't have faith enough to push skywards and bestow on me the eyes of the creator, you're nothing to me; you passed through unexpectedly this autumn afternoon of emptiness and open wounds, as i wait for him in the interim leaving open his pedestal for him to beautify and play misty for me, you can never hurt me i never let you in that deep nor will i ever pine away for you - you're not him. |
