With it came the snow
from low grey masses that scoured the tops
of the bared boned trees
       leaving them to bleed white
from tips of fingers that reached up
for something warmer than the cold
yet found only the iced touch
        of “ I’ve felt this before “

Some flakes gathered on the green of cedar
In a hold that dripped long drops against my neck
As I sat there wondering at the way
When I was younger I would hungrily open my mouth
And let those pale flakes of sky fall to my mouth
Never enough to quench the thirst inside
Yet always thinking “At least, I tried”

Now, I long for a fire
To ease the aches exposure leaves
And to warm deeper places that
Do not bend as well in such climbs as these

So reached to pull a match from my breast pocket
Searched for dry leaves or needles fine enough to burn
  And piled them carefully
                                         To let the flames build
As I fed small sticks to them
Watching as the spark rose then faded black
Against blankets of deepening snow

  You came to mind then
And I remembered how it was to see you
Lost in someone else

as I felt
                    The first bite of wind

and wondered how deep the drifts would be
        If it had snowed
                          in the cold that followed

Ms Sun... No ma'am, I don't do it all..(chuckling) I do nothing but slap some words on paper that usually show how little I know...  but..I appreciate the eyes that take the time to read them..and the people who are kind enough to say they did..

so I thank you ma'am... for the eyes and the time.

Dark... (chuckling)  Yeah, I as a kid too (grin) I just started early in life..

your eyes and your comments sir..always appreciated..

BBg.... lol... at least you didn't follow that damn with "you" ...
thanks ma'am.. for the read..and the eyes..
having tried to write with you, I know how different the styles and the process. Maybe Damn is all that fits here..huh?

Ms Shadows... Hun, the fact that you read and comment on what drivel I offer here and all across the boards is apreciated. I'm always amazed that people find anything in the words I write..the fact you have commented on so many of the pieces I have written, amazes me even more...
thank you...

thanks all... appreciate it.. the words, the eyes, the kindness...
