Author's Note *I wrote this shortly after my dad left the family a few months back. A very painful write*:

He had his mind made up
many years ago.
He was just waiting for the right time,
to pack up his things and go.

Wanted to break free
and have his freedom,
To do whatever he pleased
that was the outcome.

Selfish and uncaring
is what he was.
Disliked the way we lived
as for the rules and laws.

All the lessons and teachings he taught
were nothing but lies.
For he had put on an act
and hid in his disguise.

It never made sense to me
and it still doesn't today,
why he would leave his family
and join the worldly way.

He says he still loves us
and would do anything,
All I can say is...
how dissapointing.

oh Mary, my heart goes out to you

this is a sad write

things just change between people soemtimes. There are things behind closed doors that no one really knows about. No one can see another person's life and see the reasons why they do the things they do

my mother killed herself when I was ten, but I wasn't in her shoes, I don't know what she was going through, but it still hurts...but that's the choice she made.

Hang in there...keep sharing poetry

Cathie..

"We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,-
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties."

(stanza-"We Wear The Mask"-
Paul Laurence Dunbar -(1872-1906))

We all wear masks sometimes, your father may seem relaxed on the surface right now, but no doubt he will have regrets...

Time will come when you will have to summon great courage to forgive, though that may seem impossible to you right now..

Right now , you have chosen a good path...the words you write are the pealing off of your own mask, a ritual that allows the world to see your true feelings, I commend you for that honesty...These words (in your poem) are not covered by any false cosmetics, I can feel both love and hurt in them...

Thank you for sharing them...
