At last,
to feel a flower
but a plant.
Understanding, touch
the skin of residue.

Kiss
the taste
of other use.
Caressing remnants
left behind.

Finally,
eating bitter herbs,

to drink a cup,
sour,
sadly knowing

the vintage
aged
in emptiness.

long held
passion
untended,
turns
from the sweet
to the sour

yet comforts the tongue
of one
who love's
the
bittersweet

passing shadows
