A
family’s like a sycamore tree
With roots that shape our destiny. Each branch a
vital living part,Each leaf a beating of the heart.
Of common roots, of common earth. Each little
twig of common worth. From just one trunk the
branches rise, and seek the sun of summer skies. The silhouette
includes each limb. Each leaf of gold is valued kin..
And each has purpose, each will grow to shade the
other leaves below. The more the tree with leaves
enhanced, the more the tree will sway and dance.
The more the twigs that grow in spring, the more
the winter limbs will sing And from a gift
of common need the tree will bear and
scatterseed. Among the offspring,
stalks and shoots, will be the kin of future roots.
.And when the seasons have expired
the lovelytree so welladmired, Will
fall to earth and there will be the food to grow
a future tree. A living tree, a wooden shrine, is
just a being of its time,In future ages
they’ll forget, the tree which
flourished
to beget.
But roots
are roots,
that never
die, and all
the past rests
inthe eyeFor long
ago a seedling bore a lovely, stately sycamore

"Each leaf of gold is valued kin..."

you make me want to play in your garden, Lady Santos...

what do you want to bet that my very notion will some day be fact?

Dangling from every branch is a beauty of heart, family, and love.  No tree could ever look prettier and besides the fact that I am an avid fan of yours, I am also a fan of shape poems.  You are amazing from root to the top leaf.  Loved this and your rhyme never missed a beat.
