Plain to them, the face of he
behind the eyes of golden green..
Not seeing the passion that lay,
the wisdom that ebbed or the
heart that beat, again and again.

Eyes that carried memories of
past wants, cries, anguish...hurt,
failure and occasionally...
Victory.

Eyes that saw the world through glasses
that often were clouded by a great
depth of feelings...a hunger to be
more than just what was thought...
Plain....to them.

For it was behind the canvas they
could not see.  The bloods that
spilled upon parchment,   the oils
that ran into a river’s edge, the
whispers that walked a stone path,
aching to be more...

And now, even now...the weathered
face holds those eyes and looks ahead
into the mist of an Autumn morn,
wondering, wandering...if once again
what is behind what is not blue, becomes
more than just plain to see.

Yes - yes!  Behind the facade, what depths fall, what passions cascade across the precipice - we are so much more than what we appear - and when we look to another, we should remember the same -

Wonderful Barry - Bravo!

Barry, a magnificent bit of writing.  This is a keeper!  It had a lot of depth.  It is good to read your work again after my long hiatus.  My world has been pretty crazy as of late.  It's good to be back and see your posts.
