Neon flashes outside a window
starving for a fresh coat of yet
another drab color as the shrill sound
of a policeman’s whistle breaks the monotonous
bark of a neighbor’s dog,  suffering from
a dry water bowl and a leash too short
to reach the faucet’s drip.

Beneath the window,   a young couple,
conjoined at the hips by love, stealing a
moment of a torrid kiss, awaiting the dark
of an alley on a moonless night.

The thermostat set to freezing as a 1986
window air conditioner struggles against
an afternoon’s swelter, blowing air that
cools only the droplets of sweat from a
furrowed brow.   The chill of a bottled
beer rolling across the forehead, the only
consolation to an otherwise typical day
as cloudless skies shelter only the moon
from view and keep lovers in wait...
wanting to turn up the heat...even more.

Now...you're emulating Dave Smith.
Which is fine by me...my book is
dog-earred...

so, do it again.

I really got in to this steamy reading experience!

Were you perhaps reliving some memories of your own?!?

You capture the ordinary and make it extraordinary.  Much enjoyed.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
